A N T S

  by Indira Sinton

the little packets are almost classy

smooth, plastic, shimmering

 unlabelled

(a little like bistro take-out containers)

full of poison

  such countermeasures

   are strategically placed

two near the door

  one over pizza crumbs

soon
 ants appear

  red bodied

  antennas protruding

each creature marches

the civilization advances quickly

  towards its delectable, toxic goals

not unlike another group

   of somewhat larger bugs
